I hit my brain, and Mickey Mouse.

This morning Hailey was creating her "elevator 2000" she kept singing "I am an artist, I am an artist"
Well she came to show me her elevator and she bonked her head on the chair. She cried for a few seconds and then said "I hit my brain right her (pointing to her forhead), but that's okay I'll be alright" and of course it just sounds so cute because she can't say her 'r' and 'l'. She continued to work on her "Elevator 3000" and suddenly she said "It works!" She is so cute.


Chad climbed up on my lap and was playing with my phone. He pretended to call someone and then said "Mickey Mouse" so I pretended I was talking to Mickey Mouse on the phone chad loved it he thought he really called mickey mouse for me. Then Chad was poopy so I told Mickey Mouse that Chad was poopy. Chad looked down at his diaper and then turned around for me to smell. Oh boy was it stinky haha.

Do you love me the most?

Today I read on my friends facebook page how her daughter,who is 5, kissed a boy at school. so tonight during dinner I asked Lyndsi if she had kissed anyone. she said no, phew, I asked her if she was going to kiss anyone, she said no, again phew. Later in our conversation, I asked Chad "Chad do you love me most?" he looked at me with a big grin and nodded his head yes. Then we asked him "Chad do you love Daddy most?" he looked at jerome and shook his head no and then smiled really big. We all started laughing and then the girls wanted their daddy to feel better so they gave him hugs and told him they loved him most. It was so funny. Chad even laughed. He has got some personality.


We were also talking about scary movies. Lyndsi said, " I want to watch the movie with you. I can just close my eyes when it gets scary. I will know because the music goes buh, buh, buuuuum" Then Chad and Hailey couldn't stop saying "buh, buh, buuuuuum" It is really funny when Chad does it.

“I Love you for all Eternity”

Laura just told me something pretty cute. They just got a cat as the newest member to their family. It is a male cat and goes by the name of Lincoln. He is 9 weeks old. Hailey was playing with Lincoln this morning and Laura overheard her say to the cat, “I Love you for all Eternity.”

"It is just what I wanted!”

On December 24, 2008 we went to Nate and Leesa’s home for a family Christmas Eve party. We had a wonderful time and great food. We ate a Café Rio type of salad with shredded pork and some wonderful tortilla soup. We viewed a DVD with the Apostles testifying about Jesus Christ. Then we all sat around the living room to open white elephant gifts that we each brought. In turn we would pick out a present that was placed in the middle of the room or we could pick one from someone else that had already been opened. Five year old Jackson Ryan, the son of Dorothy and Matt, opened his present. It was a roll of toilet paper, a used mini Sharpie marker and couple of pencils and excitedly he exclaimed, “It is just what I wanted!” Everyone laughed and laughed and laughed. It was so funny. I still chuckle when I think about it. I have found out from Dorothy that the mini Sharpie marker is something she won’t let him have at home and the pencils are very similar to what his dad uses to frame with.

Playing Monopoly Deal with Bryant L. Jones

It is such a pleasure playing Monopoly Deal with Bryant. He has such a fun personality. He gets so excited when he is able to win. He is only 6. What is so amazing is that he has learned how to play and how to strategize and how to think and plan his moves. He hasn’t been able to read all the cards you play with so sometimes he will ask me what it says but even with that he was able to win one of the games. I was invited over for Sunday dinner on 10/10/10. Laura, Matthew, Benjamin, Bryant and I were all trying to win.

He has some really funny things he will say during the game. When he plays cards down he will say "how do you like that bucky boy" or when he has to pay someone some money then he will say "Oh I prepared for that" and he was able to pay with the money he placed in his bank or when he plays cards down that it appears he will win he will say "I am going to flush you". I was sitting next to him and every once in awhile he would reach his arm around my shoulder and pull his head next to mine as if we were in a huddle and the best of friends. It was so hilarious.

Kaleb’s thoughtfulness

I was visiting Evan and his family Friday evening October 9, 2010. Sarah and Byrn were gone to practice their roles in the upcoming “Savior of the World”. We decided to watch a football game or something else. We watched Wipe Out. Yikes! What people will do for $50,000! We decided to pop popcorn. Kaleb, age 6, and I made the popcorn and also prepared some clarified butter to be used to butter the popcorn. We were having an enjoyable time. Kaleb left and in a few minutes he came back carrying three glasses of water. He had a glass under his armpit and holding a glass in each hand. I looked at him and wondered how in the world did he make it down the stairs without dropping one of them. He didn’t ask if we wanted some water he just went and did it. So considerate and thoughtful.

"Ja"

Dan, our son, and his family came to visit. One of the funniest conversations occurred Saturday evening while preparing to eat dinner. I prepared myself a tuna fish sandwich and I put Gjetost cheese which is Norwegian goat cheese on top of the open face tuna fish sandwich. I set my plate on the table and Dan asked, “What is that on the bread?” I said, “Cheese.” Dan said, “Why is it brown?” And my wife said, “It is Norwegian cheese and that is the color.” At that moment little 4 year old Emmalynn, sitting across the table, said, “Ja!” Ja means yes in Norwegian. The timing was perfect but also the way she said it was just how a Norwegian would say it. She is only 4 years old. I am so impressed. It was absolutely hilarious. It was so cute. I still laugh when I think of the whole situation.

Graysen’s attack of the Peanut Butter and Honey Sandwich

It was Saturday October 9, 2010 at the home of Graysen Jones. It was noon and this 3 year old was getting ready to go to Kaleb’s soccer game. His dad had fixed everyone peanut butter and honey sandwiches for lunch. Gray came to the table like a big offensive lineman ready to take on the buffet line at Golden Corral. He sat down looked at me and said while he was rolling up his sleeves “I am going to roll my sleeves up and eat my peanut butter and honey sandwich. He was up to the challenge. He knew he could do it. He said it with such seriousness as if he were going to achieve some remarkable task. It was so funny. His facial expression was one of I can do this and I better roll up my sleeves and get to it.

Grandpapa, can you come for dinner?

We were eating at the dinner table Sunday, Oct 31, around 6pm. We had just finished the prayer and I heard Graysen, age 3, on his toy cell phone saying "Grandpapa! Please, come play with us!! Grandpapa? You on your way?" I interrupted him and said, "Are you talking to Grandpapa?" He was so excited. Kaleb got the real phone and called Grandpapa over for dinner. We all cheered when he said yes and scurried around to make him a plate. There was plenty of salad left but the meatballs were going fast! Kaleb and Brynley left the table several times to check if he was here yet. Graysen would say "He here yet?" When he came we ate and played games. When the kids woke up this morning, Nov. 1, they talked about the fun time playing games with Grandpapa.

I am missing something!

I recently returned from a trip visiting Dan and Leesa in Bloomfield, New Mexico and their 4 children Emmalynn, Cassee, Adam and Andrew. I went October 28^th and came home October 30^th. Friday evening the children put on their Halloween costumes. Emmalynn wore her witch costume which was so scary with the broom and she even wore green vampire teeth. Cassee put on her lady bug suit. Adam, age 2, put on his turtle suit and his Spider man suit. He also wanted to put on the dress to be a princess much to his dad’s chagrin. Ha Cassee would change from a lady bug to a little chickadee suit to a witch to a pirate to a princess. When Cassee would come out as a pirate she would say “aye aye matey aaarrggghhh”. She would change every 10 minutes for an hour or so. It was so hilarious. Adam had taken off all his costumes and his clothes except his diaper and had put on the witches’ hat. He looked at himself and said “I am missing something”. It was so funny.

Did you Bwing me a Pwesent?

This is a story told to me by my daughter, Dorothy Kaye Jones Ryan.

Dorothy got her sister, Laura, a couple of little presents for her birthday which is October 6. She did not remember it was Laura’s daughter Hailey’s birthday the same day. She took the gifts over to Laura’s house around 7:00 pm on October 6, 2010. Laura had gone out to dinner for her birthday. The kids had a babysitter. Dorothy put the presents on Laura’s bed and told the girls to tell their mom that Aunt Dorothy came by and left a birthday present for her. Hailey of course said, “Did you bwing me a pwesent for my birthday”? Hailey turned 4. It is really funny the way she talks with her unique accent. You needed to be there to really appreciate it. Dorothy said “No, you silly, it’s not your birthday.” Hailey giggled and said, “Yes it is!” Dorothy paused and then remembered it was her birthday. Dorothy gave her a big hug and said “Yes, Hailey, yes it is your birthday,” chagrined that she had forgotten their birthdays were the same day. Dorothy asked her if she liked fortune cookies to which she said “Yes!” Dorothy went out to her purse and got the fortune cookie and vanilla tootsie rolls and gave them to her and said, “Happy Birthday!” Hailey was tickled pink and Dorothy was happy too!

Grandpapa in New Mexico!

We were so lucky to have Grandpapa come visit us last week.

One thing I learned when we were in Hawaii. Rice and toilet paper are the first things people will buy and stock up on. If you have plenty of both they are premium barter items. Aloha

I was adding birthday's to the calendar and I know Leesa and Benjamin have their birthdays the 22 and 23 but I didn't want to put the wrong person on the wrong day. So if you could make any additions or corrections to the calendar that would be great!

Awesome Grandmama

Grandmama and Sydney came all the way to New Mexico just in time to see Baby Andrew Perkins Jones in the hospital before his release. They were invaluable during his first week of life. They entertained his three energetic siblings with many outings and activities. They cleaned, did laundry and dishes, and probably drove away a week later completely exhausted! But...they saved the life of the mother, Leesa!
Here is a little early birthday party for Grandmama the night before they left. We loved having them here. We don't know what we would have done without them. Thank you so much for coming and helping the Dan Jones Family!! We love you both.

May Goal

This is funny that I would have to come up with something for May. Since I have done so well the last two months. That's sarcasm in case some of you missed that. My goal is for you older people. I am going to loose 10 lbs by the end of the month :) Join me if you would like. My method of madness is Weight Watchers online and exercise. I believe in the power of counting points each day. So do whatever works for you.
The kids can just play outside more than inside for the month of May.
Oh and for those that are expecting you are to try and take a walk once a day. Obviously you don't want to loose weight. And for those who really don't have the need to loose then you should take a walk each day anyway. So there you go. Loose weight, get outside more in the month of May.

Albuquerque, NM Temple

We finally made it to the Albu. NM temple. (Dan's been there a few times with the youth.)
It was our stake's Take -Your-Family-to-the-Temple day. It was an all day event. We left our house about 9. We ate lunch when we got to Albu. Dan got into the 1 o'clock session while I took the kids to Kohls for a much needed clothes shopping trip.
Then we swapped places. I went to the 4 o'clock session while Dan took the kids to a park. Then we grabbed a bite to eat which we ate in the car and finally made it home around 10:30 pm. It was one long day!! We regret taking for granted all the years we lived 20 minutes from the temple instead of 3 hours.
And of course this was the only picture we took at the temple that day!

April Goal

This may be a bit of a homily, with my Panglossian outlook on life causing me to want to send a billet-doux to each of you daily. That being my penchant, I choose to eschew pecuniary problems and focus instead on the copacetic nature of our family and by so doing hope to ameliorate any duplicity in my life or character! (How am I doing with the March goal?!!)

The goal, if you wish to accept it, for April (no fooling!) is to read and ponder the scriptures daily! "...feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do." This is part of "building our sure foundation...whereon if men (all of us) build they cannot fall." As you read, ponder, and pray you will find answers to your prayers, hope, faith, and love.

March Goal

Grandpapa has taken on the assignment to choose a goal for March and he has started now! Learning a new word each week!

They are posted at the right side bar under Lindsay's "Words of the Week".
Maybe everyone can post about how they remembered to use the new words in their everyday language. Good Luck!

Jones Family Goals!

Okay everyone, we are going to have a Jones Family Goal each month! This goal should be able to be accomplished in that month. (If it's something that will change your habits forever after, great, that's fine too!)
This goal can be something each person does individually or something we do as couples, or family units (Mom, Dad, and kids in the home). It will be fun to have a variety of goals: spiritual, physical (please don't make us do a marathon Leesa), emotional, mental, social, economical, churchical, friendlical (Dan added those last two), and whatever else I'm missing, you get the point!
Each adult in the family will have the chance to pick a new goal. I think we will start the first one in March so as to give the first person some time to think of what they want to do. To make it easy we will go in order of age of Jones kids, then spouse.

Be Specific

I guess I should have been more specific about my last blog.
Each goal is something that can be completed in that month and is reasonable. (Jill's hubby wants to do 1,000 sit-ups a day...we all said, "ARE YOU CRAZY!!"
Also, specify in a comment, do you want to pick new Jones Family goals, or do you want to do the Riskedahl family goals??
If you want new Jones goals I will make a schedule and everyone in the family will take turns picking a goal for a month. So, the question is do YOU want to pick a goal or not!

Hey everyone. My family (the Riskedahl's) have a family blog too. It's called Risky Business, actually the url is riskedahl.blogspot.com
A couple months ago Jill posted a challenge that she was doing, something about reading the Book of Mormon. Anyway it lead to an idea of coming up with a monthly goal as a family, done individually, and sharing our experiences with each other on the blog. She even made a schedule.
Starting in the month of Jan., my mother chose a goal about genealogy and temple work. It was posted at the end of Dec. if you want to look it up. Everyone in my family did it, or most of it!
Ronda has just posted the Feb. goal.
If any of you are interested in joining us, we could post Jones Family thoughts and experiences on the Kitchen Sink blog. We could use my family's goals or come up with our own.
We are all working toward perfection in this life and what better way to help us than to find motivation through goals and encouragement from others. All the goals will help make us better people and more loving family members to each other.
Let us all know what you think. I could even copy the goals onto the Kitchen Sink blog if you all want.
