Dan, You made this so easy for us! Thank you! The picture and name are so cute and clever! Here is what I have been up to...
I decided to use all the letters Nanny saved from all of us to create a family history album. I was sad that they are not around for us to continue writing to, but this may fill the void!
Last Friday I walked 8 miles roundtrip to Lehi to care for Chase and Bryant and got Jack in with the deal, too - what fun! It was a beautiful day to walk...finally! Today I took my car for the 5,000 mile check up, left it at Brent Brown's on the diagonal in Provo and walked 2 miles to a meeting at the Provo Library and then back again afterward - so 4 miles today. I am preparing to hike to Havasupai Falls in July with Judy and Norman and about 20 people from our ward including Marie Chamberlain Taylor and her husband, Milton, who are our "guides!" It will be way hotter than today!
Since retiring I have felt a little like a ship without a rudder. It's been nice just floating along for a while. I have had fun spending time with each of the grandchildren - thanks for all the opportunities! We got to see Lyndsi and Hailey swimming on Monday afternoon before a very yummy dinner and fun family home evening with Nate and Leesa and boys. Drive by their home and notice the lovely flowers they planted for the activity after a lesson on being obedient (like Nephi) and not murmuring (ie: Laman and Lemuel). I really enjoyed going with Dorothy and kids to watch Sydney perform with 2,000 other 5th graders in the Hope of America Student Showcase patriotic program last week at the Marriott Center. It was wonderful!! Tuesday night this week I helped put on a patriotic tribute as part of pack meeting for the 20+ men in our ward who had served in the military. The highlight was when the 15 Cub Scouts lined up and saluted the standing veterans. One young Marine just returned from Iraq last Thursday and spoke to all of us and assured us that the US presence was making a difference there and things were getting better for the people.
Yesterday was Nanny's birthday (May 7) and April 26 was Grampy's. I hope you will all think of them and remember how much they love each of you!
I am so proud of Dad and how he is responding to his new call to serve on the high council in the BYU 19th Stake. He may say he's overwhelmed and nervous about giving so many talks (one every other month to a different ward), but he has jumped in with both feet and will do a great job!
We are looking forward to Dan and Leesa spending the night tomorrow and seeing you all this Saturday. I love you all and wish all the sweet mothers in our family a very Happy Mother's Day! You are each the best mothers to your children. I am so thankful that you are each teaching your children loving truth.
I've been working on family history and we've got names ready for the temple. Come by for cards on your way to the temple!
Love,
